|WLE Call for Proposals '09-10|
|Monday, 01 June 2009|
The Centre for Excellence in Work-based Learning for Education Professionals (WLE Centre) at the Institute of Education, University of London, funded through a grant from the Higher Education Council for England, is moving into the fifth year of its operation.
The Centre aims to build on its success over the past four years in stimulating innovation in teaching, learning and assessment in both work-related learning (taking place away from work) and work-located learning (taking place at work), and to continue its focus on technologies which support the learning and practice of education professionals.
In the final year of the five-year funded programme, the Centre aims to consolidate and enhance the developments which have been achieved to date, as well as to continue to support a small number of new projects. There is an emphasis on impact and dissemination of projects, particularly in innovative and wide-reaching contexts, which can reach education and related professionals.
The Centre therefore invites original proposals which meet these aims from Institute staff and Centre Associates.
New projects can be research-based (empirical and/or theoretical), policy-orientated, conceptual or course-related. We particularly welcome projects which establish links with existing work carried out by the Centre, and which develop work with partners for dissemination and impact opportunities.
Colleagues interested in working with the Centre may submit applications for the fourth round either for short-term projects of up to ten days or longer term projects of 0.1 fte or 0.2 fte (internal secondment) for the academic year 2008-09.
Proposals with the following themes will be considered:
• the relationship between work, learning and professional practice
with a particular focus on work-based pedagogies and assessment
Proposals are expected to cover at least two of the following underpinning dimensions:
Priority will be given to projects whose proposers can also provide tangible evidence of support from sources beyond WLE for their project. This can including cofunding and/or input of resources in kind, that will ensure the longer term sustainability and impact of the work.
